Islamabad May 15, 2008: Pakistan Peoples Party has said that the Party had informed the coalition partner PML-N in the appointment of Mr. Salman Taseer as Governor Punjab.

In a statement today spokesperson of the Party former Senator Farhatullah Babar said that under the Constitution Article 101 the Governor of a province is appointed by the President after consultation with the Prime Minister.

A couple of names were under consideration including that of Mr. Salman Taseer for appointment as Governor Punjab.

The PPP Co-Chairman Senator Asif Ali Zardari had informed the PML-N about it on Wednesday. Today the PPP leader also spoke with the Punjab Chief Minister about it.
