PPP to observe Mohtarma Bhutto's
birthday in a sober manner

PPP workers to donate blood on the day
Islamabad June 15, 2008: The Pakistan Peoples Party has decided to observe
Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto's birthday falling on June 21 in a sober
manner with Quran Khawani to be held throughout the country amid vows by
workers to continue her mission.
PPP Co-Chairman Senator Asif Ali Zardari will lead blood donation campaign
on the day as a mark of tribute to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto who shed
her blood for the cause of the country and democracy. PPP workers have also
been advised to donate blood.
The fifty fifth birthday of Mohtarma Bhutto falling this year is also the
first after her shahadat on December 27 last year.
In a directive issued to all Party organizations the Party's Co-Chairman Mr.
Asif Ali Zardari directed that birthday will be celebrated in a sober manner
as the Party and workers were still passing through aperiod of mourning and
grief.
Quran Khani will be held in Party offices and at other places by Party
office bearers and workers but there will be no cake cutting ceremony at the
birthday functions.
Party offices and buildings will be illuminated with candle light at night
and big portraits of the Muslim World's first woman Prime Minister and
Pakistan twice elected Prime Minister will be displayed at prominent places
with candle lights and flowers around it.
The PPP organizations at the Provincial, Divisional, District and taluka/tehsil
levels and all PPP members of the cabinets and Members of Parliament have
been conveyed the instructions.
The Party workers will vow to continue the mission of Shaheed Mohtarm
Benazir Bhutto. The Co-Chairman recalled the political will of Shaheed
Mohtama Bhutto that said, " I fear for the future of Pakistan. Please
continue to fight against extremism, dictatorship, poverty and ignorance".
The Party Co-Chairman asked the people to pray for the integrity and
solidarity of the country and urged the workers to rededicate themselves to
the ideals for which Shaheed Mohtarma struggled for and laid down her life.
