Pays rich tributes to founder Chairman and his brave daughter

Islamabad, 3 April 2008: An extraordinary joint meeting of the Central Executive Committee and Federal Council, Pakistan Peoples Party was held in Naudero House presided over by the Co-Chairman PPP, Senator Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday afternoon. The PPP holds this joint meeting each year on the eve of martyrdom anniversary of its founder Chairman of the Party, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to pay him rich tributes.

The meeting adopted a resolution as follows:

"This meeting is being held at a time when the party, its leadership and workers are mourning the assassination of brave daughter of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto who was taken away from the nation on 27th December last year. Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was an international leader who was martyred after she had addressed a public gathering in Liaquat  Bagh, Rawalpindi.

"This meeting pays rich tributes to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto as well as his brave daughter and custodian of his historic legacy, "Martyr of Democracy" (Shaheed-e-Jamhooriat) Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for their leadership, fight against dictatorships, struggle for political,  economic, social and constitutional rights. They gave courage to the people to tread the path of struggle. The unending relation between the people and political romance is not only continues but getting strength day by day. Both the leaders sacrificed their lives for the peoples'
happiness, respect and for the supremacy of democracy. This meeting believes that their great sacrifices gave strength to the people and energy to the Pakistan Peoples Party."

"Today's meeting pays rich tributes to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for opening the doors of politics for poor, downtrodden and middle classes and laid the foundation of Pakistan Peoples Party. The way Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto continued struggle for democracy despite internal and external conspiracies, violence and betrayals and sacrificed her life, is unmatched in the history of struggles. The PPP and its workers regard themselves fortunate to be linked with martyrs, braves and international leaderships.

"The meeting also pays rich tributes to all those valiant martyrs who sacrificed their lives in this historic struggle for restoration of democracy and assures their relatives that the Party will always keep this relation of respect and love with them. The Party pays rich tributes to all brothers and sisters who were with the Party in the struggle for democracy and assures them that Party will be with them in the political journey in future."

"This meeting reiterates its resolve that our path is the path of martyrs. We repose full confidence in the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-Chairman Senator Asif Ali Zardari and assure them that we will continue to tread the path shown by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and treaded by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto under their leadership and will not shy away from sacrificing in this endeavor."
